Mobile phones for hummel bee and co

The NTNM library has set up a collection point for old mobile phones in its foyer. In doing so, we are supporting a project of NABU and Telefónica Deutschland Group.

Both organisations have been working together on environmental protection since 2011. For the collected mobile phones, Telefonica donates a fixed sum to NABU every year, which flows into the NABU insect protection fund.

Save resources and support NABU project with mobile phone recycling

Throwing used mobile phones into the household waste harms the environment and is therefore prohibited by law. Moreover, too many rare earths are lost in the process and other raw materials have to be mined unnecessarily. NABU’s priority is therefore to recycle and – if necessary – repair mobile devices in order to increase the useful life of a mobile phone. When buying a new mobile phone, please give the previous discarded mobile phone to the NABU mobile phone collection as soon as possible. This makes it more likely that recycling will be worthwhile and will take place. This prolongs the useful life and protects the environment.

This is a voluntary participation campaign in which we, the NTNM library, are involved. We collect all kinds of mobile phones, smartphones or tablets – along with accessories (power supply, charging cable, battery, headset). The condition of the devices does not matter: both functional and defective devices can be dropped off in our collection box in front of the NTNM entrance door.

We then send the collected devices to the location specified by NABU.
